The MITA has been appointed by the Government of Malta as the prime Agency for propagating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) policy in the country and the executor of The Smart Island Strategy – 2010
The MITA reports to the Minister responsible for Communications. Over the years we have grown, evolved, gone through challenges and remained passionate about who we are and what we do. MITA is taking over the functions of the former Information Society Secretariat, ICT in Government Unit, the Core ICT Advisory Committee and MITTS Ltd.
Our website is the bank for relevant up-to-date information on national ICT projects and MITA’s contribution towards realising The Smart Island vision for Malta.

The MITA Statute was registered through a notarial public deed on the 18th August 2008.
The setting up of the Malta Information Technology Agency was approved by Cabinet on the 4th July 2008
