The MITA Student Startup Award

The Competition​​​ 

MITA, in collaboration with the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Business Incubation (CEBI), the University of Malta Business Incubator (TAKEOFF), and the Faculty of ICT (FICT), organised a competition for final year students reading for their undergraduate degree, master degree or PhD at the Faculty of ICT (FICT) interested in developing a startup venture based on a concept developed as part of their dissertation or final year project.

The competition was aimed at stimulating entrepreneurship and creativity in the field of ICT based innovative and well-researched ideas, as well as to promote research which, in addition to meeting academic requirements, can be further developed into a product or service.  To view the competition's Information Flyer, click here​. The Prize

Ms. Attard, was awarded a total of €7420 worth of prizes earlier in July 2014. MITA awarded €5000 as seed funding to be spent on the development of the Start-up venture at TAKEOFF, including technological support through its network of vendors and links with key government entities in the development and deployment of the app as well as hands-on industrial expertise in harnessing ICT to deliver value.  CEBI awarded free tuition for the first two Modules of the Intensive Training Programme in Technology Entrepreneurship offered by the Centre and mentoring hours worth €2000.  TAKEOFF awarded free membership at the business incubator for one year following the award – a value of €420.
